When Adoniram Judson Drake was born in August 1852, in Warren Township, Somerset, New Jersey, his father, Edward Drake, was 41 and his mother, Mary Coon Waldron, was 35. He was number 9 of 15 children in that family. He is listed in the 1870 census as 17 years old and living with his parents and 4 brothers in Delavan, Illinois. Drake married Sara Greshum on 31 December 1872, in Delavan, Tazewell County, Illinois. They were the parents of at least 1 son and 1 daughter. Census reports reveal the Drake lived in Tazewell County in 1860 and again in 1900. A summary from the 1910 census reveals the Adoniram and Sara have been married for 37 years. He is 57 and she is 56. and they live at 11B Spruce Street, Delavan. He is a teamster for a coal company and can read and write in English. He died in 1924 at age of 72, and was buried in Tazewell County.[1]
