2005-Present
Judson Davis Coverstone
Student, Freeport, Illinois IL/IL
On 16 June 2005, Judson Davis Coverstone was born to Brianna Kathryn Coverstone and her husband, Pastor Justin Coverstone. Judson was the third child of seven who would make up this Presbyterian pastor’s family in Freeport, Illinois. Two trials converged to guide these parents in their selection if the Judson name.
Following the model of Jesus, Justin Coverstone gave up a career in carpentry to follow a calling into the Christian ministry. He had studied at Ambassador Baptist College in North Carolina, and was tapped to play the role of the father of missionary Adoniram Judson in the annual theater production. Through that production, the Judson legacy became more than just a name on a list of missionaries for this young pastor-in-training.
Faithful in her home church and Christian activities, Brianna learned about the sacrifices made by Ann and Adoniram Judson through mission studies and missionary biographies. The Judson legacy became a reality through her early adolescent years and followed her into marriage and local church leadership.
Judson Davis Coverstone received a first name representing the missionary legacy of Adoniram Judson, Jr.; a middle name representing the heritage of his paternal grandmother’s family; and, according to tradition, his father’s last name. Being one of seven children, his moniker has been shortened to “J”. He is known throughout northeastern Illinois as a excellent cellist and is called on for weekly worship and to play for special events. Judson has homeschooled but also took additional music lessons in Rockford, Illinois. He is currently studying at Covenant College in Lookout Mountain, Georgia, hoping to finish he preparation for a career in engineering at Georgia Tech. Judson Davis Coverstone’s campus job is in the Office of Student Recruitment.
