Adoniram Judson Cogswell

When Rev. Adoniram Judson Cogswell was born on 2 March 1834, in Granville Township, Annapolis, Nova Scotia, Canada, his father, Dr. Joshua Borden Cogswell, was 25 and his mother, Ann Potter, was 25. He was the second child of nine born to this couple. He married Mary Ann Cogswell on 10 November 1859, in Cornwallis, Kings County, Nova Scotia. They were the parents of at 3 sons and 2 daughters. Their second child received his father’s name but only lived 8 years, 1860-1868.
From Canadian census records we can learn that Rev. Cogswell lived in Bridgetown, Annapolis, Nova Scotia, in 1871 and Wilmot, Annapolis, Nova Scotia, in 1881. He served as co-pastor with John Williams of the Bridgewater Baptist Church and its “outstations” in Lunenburg County, Nova Scotia, 1874-75. Rev. Cogswell performed 4 weddings between 23 December 1874 and 4 April 1875. He died on 25 June 1897, in Brockton, Plymouth, Massachusetts, United States, at the age of 63, and was buried in Melrose Cemetery, Plymouth, Massachusetts.[i]
